Hamburg Airport is the fifth largest airport in Germany and the country's oldest center of civil aviation.
With a new Airport Plaza, which opened at the End of 2008, a hotel and the new rail link, the airport has
concluded an extensive modernization program. This also included the construction of a second passenger terminal,
a multi-story car park and a new pier as well as the revamping of the
terminal approaches. Already the airport is benefiting from the new facilities increasing passenger numbers from
under ten million in 2004 to 13.6 million in 2011.
Shareholders
In view of the positive economic development of the airport, HTAC increased its effective shareholding in Hamburg Airport
with effect from January 2007 to 14.2 percent. Together with HTA it holds
49 percent. The City of Hamburg holds 51 percent of the shares in Hamburg Airport.
