Düsseldorf International
Portrait
Düsseldorf International is Germany's third-largest airport and the country's most important international
center of aviation after Frankfurt and Munich. The airport benefits from its central location within the Rhine-Ruhr
region. The short and guaranteed transfer times of just
35 minutes and the airport's function as a
regional hub are the two main reasons for the positive development. These are areas in which Düsseldorf
International has been working on improving procedures and stepping up comfort and convenience for airlines and
passengers. In recent years, Düsseldorf International has attached importance to expanding its
non-aviation business as well. Until 2016, it is, for instance, involved in the creation of Airport City, a large
office park with a convention hotel on a 23-hectar adjacent former barracks site.
Shareholders
Düsseldorf International is 50 percent owned by the City of Düsseldorf, with the remaining
50 percent in the hands of private shareholders. HTAC has a stake of 10 percent and HTA
20 percent. The final 20 percent is held by Aer Rianta International,
a subsidiary of the Dublin Airport Authority.
